
4th Edition – 2022
The return to in‑person screenings.
Introduction
The 4th edition of the Moinho Cine Fest marked the return to in‑person screenings, representing an important moment in the festival’s evolution after two years of adaptations. The sessions took place across the Union of the Parishes of Custóias, Leça do Balio and Guifões, reinforcing the festival’s connection to the local territory.
A total of 421 submissions from 57 countries were received, from which 107 films representing 35 countries were selected, reflecting the international diversity that characterises the festival. The sessions were held on April 2 in Guifões, April 9 in Leça do Balio and April 14 in Custóias.

Jury
José Paulo Santos
Born in Coimbra in 1979, he has been dedicated to independent cinema since 2013. His film …além da sala de espera is part of the National Cinema Plan, screened at 20 international festivals and awarded in Porto and New Delhi. His fiction works Circunstâncias and Observador also screened at several festivals. His most recent film, 1965 | Panreal, um edifício de Nadir Afonso, won the Augusta Award for Best Documentary at the 19th BragaCine. He is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Vigo, developing a film about the poet Avelino Díaz.
Marta Raquel Quelhas
Born in 1987, she holds a degree in Cinema and Audiovisual from Escola Superior Artística do Porto, where she produced the short film O canto dos cisnes, a finalist for the 2011 ZON National Award. She has worked in academic productions, television, theatre and events, joining the team of the short film Carnaval Sujo in 2019. She coordinated theatre pieces such as A Noite, by José Saramago, and Pocahontas, a theatre‑in‑cinema project. Since 2021 she has been working in the field of communication.
Sérgio Duarte
Born in Coimbra in 1975, he worked for 12 years as a dental prosthesis technician while maintaining a strong connection to cinema. He completed training in video, cinematography, sound and directing, collaborating on productions for brands such as Nike and Coca-Cola. He now writes and directs his own films. He has been recognised as a Specialist Videographer in Social Reporting and Documentary, Master Videographer, finalist for Videographer of the Year 2018 and winner of the award that same year.
