About Moinho Cine Fest

It is an international film festival that has been running since 2019 and is directed by filmmaker André Almeida Rodrigues. It promotes contemporary cinematic creation, both national and international, presenting short‑form works in the nano, micro and short film categories, including films, video dance and music videos. Moinho Cine Fest has been awarded the EFFE Label 2026–2027, an initiative of the European Festivals Association supported by the European Commission and the European Parliament..

Moinho Cine Fest distinguishes several categories, awarding monetary prizes, trophies and certificates:

What submission categories are accepted by the festival?

Submissions are accepted in the following categories:

Short — Competition for Portuguese and international short films, music videos and video dance works, between 05:01 and 40:00 in duration, produced from 2025 onwards.

Micro — Competition for Portuguese and international micro films, music videos and video dance works, between 01:01 and 05:00 in duration, produced from 2025 onwards.

Nano — Competition for Portuguese and international nano films, music videos and video dance works, up to 01:00 in duration, produced from 2025 onwards.

How do screening fees work?

In the competitive sections, the festival pays a screening fee of €0.05 per second, excluding the duration of opening and closing credits. If a fee waiver is granted, the value of the waived submission fee is deducted from the screening fee amount.

How can I request a fee waiver?

To request a fee waiver, the participant must send an email indicating the work, the reason for the request, and the platform where they intend to submit the film.
The festival management reviews each request and reserves the right to accept or decline it
